Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory (stf) is one of the UK’s most admired ensemble theatre companies. Over 20,000 people visit our annual seasons in Bristol each year, and our UK and International Tours attract thousands more.

stf also produces in partnership with a number of theatres and establishments, most recently with the University of Bristol.

Since its inception in 1999, stf has produced 25 Shakespeares, 3 Chekhovs, 2 Molieres, a Jacobean tragedy, Tom Stoppard’s modern classic Arcadia, Sheridan’s The School For Scandal, and Allan Monkhouse’s First World War play, The Conquering Hero.

The Company provides rare training opportunities for recent graduate actors and university and college students, as well as offering an Education Programme for Young People through its workshops in schools, colleges and universities.

Big Give Appeal

You can ‘Donate Now’ directly online to our Big Give appeal…..

stf has never received any form of public subsidy; and in the present financial climate funds from commercial sponsors and charitable trusts are ever more difficult to find. So the support of individuals is critical to our survival. We have therefore launched an ongoing Big Give appeal to raise vital funds to help to secure our work into the future.’
